Pride Reads – An Evening with Brian Schaefer

October 25 @ 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
$15.00

We are excited to celebrate our inaugural Pride Read and are proud to host journalist and debut author Brian Schaefer for an exclusive speaking engagement on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge. Schaefer will discuss his critically acclaimed novel, Town & Country, exploring its themes of community, ambition, and the complex human dynamics of rural change.

Published by Simon & Schuster, Town & Country has drawn widespread praise for its poised elegance and profound empathy. The novel centers on a high-stakes congressional race in a trendy rural town, forcing long-term candidates, their families, and a tight-knit clique of second-home owners to confront shifting allegiances and personal betrayals. The Washington Post hailed the debut as “refreshingly thoughtful,” while Pulitzer Prize-winning author Andrew Sean Greer described it as “a book to bring us together.”

Schaefer, a regular contributor to The New York Times, The New Yorker, and New York magazine, brings his sharp journalistic eye and master’s degree in creative writing to this special mountain event. The evening will feature a reading, a moderated Q&A session about the author and book, and an author book signing.

The presentation will take place in the historic, historic main hall of the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge, located at 850 Willow Creek Road, Lake Arrowhead, CA.
